SPRING 2013 CLASSES @ SCCH:

“The Print Shop” Printmaking Class
K-3rd Grade Art Course / Monday 2:20pm-3:20pm / $175 / 14 week session

The possibilities are endless; explore the diverse methods of mixed-media printmaking in this creative workshop! Emphasizing on experimentation and creativity, students will learn to make one-of-a-kind prints using brushwork, collage, and stencil techniques. A firm understanding of textural form, color-theory, tonal value, and composition will be achieved during the creation of unique prints.Students will master the printmaking process of Monotype, Monoprint, Gyotaku printing, Collagraphy, Screenprinting, Cyanotype printing, Relief Printing, image-transfer printing and more!

“Illustrative Illusions” Illustration Class
4th-8th Grade Art Course / Monday 1:10pm-2:10pm / $175 / 14 week session

“A line is a dot that went for a walk.” -Paul Klee.
“Illustrative Illusions” is a workshop focused on creative mark-making and masterful line quality. In this workshop, students will experiment with illustration and gain knowledge in illustrative techniques focusing on line quality, perspective, foreshortening, light/shadow, tonal values, graphic stenciling, after-imagery, as well as study some of the most prominent Illustrative artist throughout history. Each art piece will reflect the theme of “Illustrative Illusion”, that is imagery that plays with the viewers sight. The final outcome will be an array of original illustrative art pieces with an extensive knowledge in contour, hatching, cross-hatching, and stippling mark-making.

“ROYGBIV” Intro into Color Theory Class
K-2nd Grade Art Course / Wednesday 9:00am-10:30am / $270 / 16 week session

“ROYGBIV” is a class based on the art of color! ROYGBIV is in fact an abbreviation of all the colors in the color wheel (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet). Studies of color will include the fundamental elements of the color spectrum, Primary Colors, Complimentary Colors, Secondary and Tertiary Colors, and Tonal Techniques; focusing on saturation, contrast, value and hue. Students will discover the rich world of color theory with each week introducing a brand new color wheel component. The final outcome will be the creation of beautifully produced colorful masterpieces using a multitude of mediums including Pastel, Water Color, Acrylic, illustration, mixed media, and more.

Dynamic Daring Designs: A 2-D & 3-D Design Class
3rd-6th Grade Art Course / Wednesday 10:40am-12:20am / $270 / 16 week session

“Dynamic Daring Designs” will immerse Students into the brillantly creative arts of 2-Dimensional, 3-Dimensional and Graphic Design. “Dynamic Daring Designs” will allow students to solve creative design problems by using their inventive thinking. Students will produce captivating works of art using the traditional design elements including composition, perspective, scale, space, volume, mass, plane and line. An array of mediums will be covered during the course of this class including drawing, painting, ceramics, paper modeling, mixed media and more.
